The Snohomish Education Foundation (SEF) recently awarded 175 classroom grants to Snohomish School District teachers and staff totaling $78,470 for 2019. The Foundation was able to fund, either in full or partially, 93 percent of the applications received. The classroom grants were personally delivered to many surprised teachers in their classrooms and staff meetings throughout the District by SEF Board members, Snohomish School District Superintendent Dr. Kent Kultgen, District School Board members, District Communications Director Kristin Foley, and SEF Executive Director Ken Hammond.
SEF Awards a Record Amount
“Through the tremendous generosity of our donors and the great support of our community, the Snohomish Education Foundation was able to award a record amount this year in classroom grants. The Foundation and our classroom grant program is proud to support more students in the Snohomish community than any other organization. We thank everyone who contributed to the great success of the program,†said Steve Thomas, Chairman of the SEF Classroom Grant Committee.
The grants will improve student learning in literacy, science, technology, engineering, and math. Since the program began, the Snohomish Education Foundation has funded over $825,000 to 1,560 teachers and staff in the Snohomish School District.
“Thank you again for stopping by with the grant money to help support our salmon project. We couldn’t do as many cool experiences for our kids without you and we truly appreciate it,†said Jamie Yeager, 4th grade teacher at Seattle Hill Elementary.
