Celebrating 30 years of service, the Snohomish Education Foundation had a record attendance of over 320 community members who gathered at Glacier Peak High School. The Annual Fundraising Breakfast raises funds for Snohomish School District student programs and college scholarships for graduating seniors. Guests participated in the celebration and heard about the many ways the Snohomish Education Foundation supports student success throughout the Snohomish School District. Thanks to all who sponsored, attended and gave funds, a collective of $63,000.00 was raised. These funds make a difference in the lives of children in K-12 as well as graduating seniors for college scholarships, classroom grants, computer technology programs, reading-readiness programs and the Summer Arts & Science Academy for K-8 grade. 
Patty Venema, Board President shared, “We are extremely proud to be a part of this visionary community, which includes our donors, sponsors,  district leaders, principals and teachers who are committed to providing exceptional education experiences for the students of Snohomish.
The combined ROTC members from Snohomish High School, Glacier Peak High School and Monroe High School started the event with the Presentation of Colors. Lance Peters, Assistant Principal from Glacier Peak High School and Sherri Williams, 
SEF Director, gave a warm welcome to attendees. Kevin Latimer, Master of Ceremony spoke and kept the audience engaged with the program. President, Patty Venema thanked Snohomish School District Superintendent, Dr. Bill Mester, for his 14 years of service and commitment to the Snohomish as he retires this year and announced the establish a new scholarship in Honor of Dr. Mester for his 14 years of service to the Snohomish School District. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior in the Snohomish School District. The Foundation also announced the establishment of a new scholarship in honor of SEF founding members, Marian Berge and Mal Harding, who began the organization 30 years ago and are still involved with the Foundation today.
Philippa Farrell, Principal of Summer Science & Arts Academy
Jon Cowan, teacher at Centennial Middle School and Philippa Farrell with the Summer Arts & Science Academy summer program at SSD spoke to the group about their programs. The SEF funds class room grants to teachers for programs in the Snohomish School District to benefit students and contribute to excellence in learning. The Glacier Peak Theatre Club students gave a lively presentation from their recent musical, “Beauty and the Beastâ€. Eric Fritch, owner of Chinook Lumber, local businessman and SEF past Board President and current Ex-Officio member of SEF gave a moving presentation of his involvement with the community of Snohomish. Eric shared about his support of education during his past 30 years as a business owner and his other non-profit involvement in the community of Snohomish.
