“Imagine… all the places they will go!â€Â Â
325 community members gathered at the newly remodeled Valley View Middle School to raise money for Snohomish School District students and to gain awareness about the programs the Snohomish Foundation provides. The theme for this year’s Breakfast was “Imagine… all the places they will go!â€
Following the theme of this event, students of Valley View shared the places they imagined they would go by carrying banners they had created that listed their career aspirations. The students paraded through the crowd of attendees with their banners held high. The event was co-hosted by three Valley View middle school students and ASB Officers, Abby Nicholson, Marissa Johnson, and Abby Wiseman and hosted by Foundation Trustee, Tom Sebastian.
The presentations included Kevin Latimer, VP of Fund Development giving an informative presentation on District-wide Grants and the impact those monies have had on the level of education provided to the children in our District. Everett Community College President, Dr. David Beyer, spoke about college opportunities, followed by JJ Cook, a Bio Engineering student. JJ Cook shared his experience as a student at Snohomish High School completing the first of its kind high school Biotechnology/Machine Pathways program and how that experience impacted his overall education.  JJ found that many of the Biotechnology/Machine Pathways courses he took at Western Washington University were already being taught in our Snohomish High Schools providing him a huge educational advantage.Â
The Breakfast was concluded when Cathy Reines, President of the Board of Trustees called the students back up to the stage with banners in hand and asked the crowd to “Imagine… all the places these students will go with your support.â€Â Reines went on to say, “It is my dream that one day every student that graduates from the Snohomish School District with college aspirations will receive a scholarship.â€
“The generosity of our community touches my heart year after year.†said Sharon Hall, Breakfast Event Committee Chair and retired Snohomish School District Teacher. “It is my pleasure to be a part of this event and be involved with an organization that makes such an immense impact on the educational opportunities for children in our community.â€
